This procedure is an approach that uses an instrument to break ureteral and renal stones into smaller fragments.In the laser approach, a Urosurgeon inserts laser fiber often no bigger than a hair into the patient's ureter through endoscope, drawing the fiber upward until it reaches the stones. The laser is activated, and the energy burst causes the stone to break apart while leaving the ureter's tissue unharmed. Once the stones are burst, the pieces are removed through the ureter by various devices. Thus, the stone is removed completely at the time of procedure itself, obstruction is relieved and patient becomes stone free and symptoms free.
